App Store Screenshot Dimensions: Complete 2026 Pixel Reference
iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPad Pro M4, Apple TV, Mac — here is every exact screenshot pixel dimension Apple and Google require in 2026, including the ones most guides leave out.
Getting the pixel dimensions right is the first technical requirement before any screenshot reaches App Store Connect. Upload the wrong size and the upload is rejected before review ever sees it. This reference covers every exact dimension for every Apple platform and Google Play in 2026.
iPhone screenshot dimensions
App Store Connect identifies iPhone screenshots by display size (in inches) rather than by model name. Three sizes are actively required for iPhone apps:
6.9" — 1320 × 2868 px (iPhone 16 Pro Max, 16 Plus)
The newest required iPhone size, introduced with the iPhone 16 generation. This size covers the current flagship devices and is prioritized by App Store Connect: if you upload a 6.9" set, Apple displays it on 6.7" and 6.5" devices as well. The 6.9" set should be your first priority for any new app or update.
6.9" is the recommended minimum for new submissions
Apple now accepts a 6.9" set in place of 6.7" and 6.5" screenshots for all recent iPhone models. If you are starting from scratch in 2026, build your 6.9" set first and let App Store Connect scale it for older device sizes automatically.
6.5" — 1242 × 2688 px (iPhone 11 Pro Max, XS Max)
Still widely required for apps targeting devices from the 11 Pro Max / XS Max era. At 458 ppi and 3× scale, this resolution produces crisp text at the exported pixel size. Many developers submit both 6.9" and 6.5" to guarantee explicit coverage for all device generations.
5.5" — 1242 × 2208 px (iPhone 8 Plus, 7 Plus, 6s Plus)
Required if your app supports iOS 12 or earlier, or if you want explicit coverage for Home-button iPhone users. This is the only iPhone size at 3× scale with a 16:9 aspect ratio — so designs intended for 6.9" will appear proportionally shorter if no 5.5" set is provided.
Other iPhone sizes (reference only)
- 6.7" — 1284 × 2778 px (iPhone 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro Max, 14 Plus, 15): covered by 6.9" submission.
- 6.1" — 1170 × 2532 px (iPhone 12/13/14): covered by 6.5" submission in most cases.
- 4.7" — 750 × 1334 px (iPhone SE 3rd gen, iPhone 8): required only for SE-specific submissions.
- 4.0" — 640 × 1136 px (iPhone SE 1st/2nd gen): rarely required for modern apps.
iPad screenshot dimensions
iPad screenshots are required separately from iPhone screenshots and are worth the investment for any app with an iPad-optimized layout.
- iPad Pro 13" — 2064 × 2752 px (M4 iPad Pro 13")
- iPad Pro 11" — 1668 × 2388 px (M4 iPad Pro 11", iPad Air 11")
- iPad Pro 12.9" — 2048 × 2732 px (older iPad Pro generations — still accepted)
- iPad 10.9" — 1640 × 2360 px (iPad 10th generation)
- iPad 10.5" — 1668 × 2224 px (iPad Air 3rd gen)
App Store Connect accepts 13" screenshots in place of older 12.9" submissions for most apps. When in doubt, upload the 13" set and App Store Connect will handle display on older iPad Pro generations.
Apple TV screenshot dimensions
Apple TV apps require screenshots at 1920 × 1080 px (16:9 landscape). Unlike iPhone and iPad, there is only one required size. Apple TV screenshots must show TV-optimized UI — a phone screenshot scaled up is immediately obvious and looks poor on a large display.
Mac screenshot dimensions
Mac App Store screenshots support a range of sizes but require a minimum width of 1280 px. Common working sizes:
- 1280 × 800 px — minimum accepted size, suitable for most Mac apps.
- 1440 × 900 px — standard MacBook Air resolution.
- 2560 × 1600 px — Retina MacBook Pro resolution at 2× scale.
Mac screenshots can be landscape or portrait, but landscape is standard — Mac apps run in windows, not full-screen portrait mode.
Google Play screenshot dimensions
Google Play is more permissive than the App Store on exact pixel counts, accepting screenshots that fall within a range rather than requiring an exact size:
- Short side: minimum 320 px.
- Long side: minimum 320 px, maximum 3840 px.
- Aspect ratio: must be 16:9 or 9:16.
- Minimum 2 screenshots, maximum 8.
The de facto standard for phone screenshots on Google Play is 1080 × 1920 px (portrait). This renders cleanly across all Android screen densities and matches the aspect ratio of virtually every modern Android device.
Technical notes: scale factors and safe zones
iOS devices render UI at 1×, 2×, or 3× logical pixel density. Screenshots need to be at the device's native pixel resolution — not a scaled-up or scaled-down version. A screenshot designed at 390 × 844 pt (the logical size of a 6.1" iPhone 14) needs to be exported at 1170 × 2532 px (3× scale) for App Store Connect.
Always design in points, export in pixels
If you design in Figma at the device's logical point size and export at 2× or 3×, you will get the correct pixel count automatically. Never upscale a screenshot from a lower resolution — App Store Connect will accept it, but the quality will be visibly soft.
Boom Screens exports every screenshot at the correct native pixel resolution for each device size automatically — no manual scale calculations required.
